Interim Chief Executive (Interim CEO)

A NorthCo Interim CEO is generally appointed to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. This may be during a period of transition, to restore confidence in an organisation, or as the result of the sudden departure of the company’s previous CEO. They are often called upon to ‘steady the ship’ in periods of great turmoil. This may be a result of the Executive Director or CEO being forced out, or departing without giving adequate notice.

Traditionally companies have looked to their existing employee base when hiring an Interim CEO. However, today an increasing number of businesses are now bringing in Interim CEOs from outside of their organisation. One reason for this is that the skill set desired for interim CEOs is generally unique. They are often required to manage a crisis situation, as opposed to the day-to-day operations of the company.
