“Operating in the most competitive market in the Middle East -Saudi Arabia- Zain KSA (a Vodafone Partner market operation) was faced with a seemingly impossible turnaround situation in 2013: losing over 1 M USD a day, the company was struggling to gain any further market share and staff moral was low.
Jed led the implementation of the strategic management review and then the philosophy of Mission Alignment that was a pivotal part of the turnaround process. This was rolled out over the top two levels in the organisation, and this, coupled with the introduction of the “high-performance teams”, model led to dramatically improved levels of both accountability and execution.
The greater alignment within the senior leadership was recognised throughout the organisation (over 4,000 employees) and was the catalyst for widespread culture change. Interestingly, this was captured by the annual employee engagement survey, which showed the highest rate of improvement in all participating companies in the (Louis Allen) international survey in that year.
Zain KSA has since been able to build on this successful foundation and became profitable for the first time in 2017”.
