Teams become dysfunctional for a variety of reasons, but we often find that at the heart of the problem lies an inability to communicate freely, openly and honestly. We find ‘Elephants under the Table’ – issues that everyone is familiar with, but no-one wants to talk about. We also often see an inability to challenge others positively and with respect, or to have that awkward conversation. Sometimes real operational challenges are blamed by the failing team for its performance when the cause is the lack of creativity and energy required to adapt to change.
